Equipment

  • Cutting board and knife
  • Mixing bowl
  • Baking sheet
  • Parchment paper or silicone baking mat

Ingredients

  • 2-3 medium white sweet potatoes
  • 2-3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper (or to taste)
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika (optional, for smoky flavor)
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (optional, for added depth)
  • Fresh herbs (like rosemary or thyme, optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  • Step 1: Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). This high temperature ensures crispy edges and a tender interior.
Wash the sweet potatoes thoroughly under running water to remove any dirt. You can peel them or leave the skin on for added nutrients and texture.
Cut the sweet potatoes into wedges:
Slice each potato in half lengthwise.
Cut each half into 4–6 wedges, depending on the size of the potato. Aim for uniform wedges for even cooking.
In a large mixing bowl, toss the sweet potato wedges with olive oil, salt, black pepper, paprika, and garlic powder. Ensure the wedges are evenly coated with the oil and seasonings.
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat to prevent sticking.
Arrange the seasoned wedges in a single layer, making sure they are not overcrowded. This allows for proper air circulation and even roasting.
Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and roast for 25–30 minutes.
Halfway through the cooking time (around 12–15 minutes), flip the wedges to ensure even browning on both sides.
Once the wedges are golden brown and crispy on the outside, remove them from the oven.
Let them cool slightly, then garnish with fresh herbs like rosemary or thyme if desired.
Serve warm as a side dish, snack, or part of a larger meal.
